Life is full of beautiful surprises!
When you go on a family vacation with three young boys to an out-of-the-way resort known mainly for its rustic scenery and outdoor activities, you wouldn’t expect much for your artistic senses, right? Well, I was totally wrong!
This summer we went to the Bid Cedar Lodge in Missouri. This place surprised me with its attention to detail, great taste in architecture, landscaping, and art.
Our first surprise was the glamoured-up log cabin. The animals on the wall brought the loveliness of the wild right inside. My favorite decoration was the stained glass windows. Each center panel depicted a different animal or fish—my artist’s quirky sense was very happy!
Everything in the resort was well thought out, a perfect combination of rustic and artistic.
I especially loved how the animals were so at ease around people, acting like they owned the place—LOL.
The second surprise was the top-of-the-rock restaurant and chapel (I’ll share more about the chapel’s story another time).
I adored the wood and rock combination of the building, the iron chandeliers, and most of all, the amazing paintings of Native Americans and nature, reminiscent of the beauty of a bygone past.
How is your summer going? Have you visited any places that inspired and satisfied your artist brain? I’d love to hear about it!
